Parenting Tip #1 Parents In Charge
Hello! The season of green is starting here. Trees are budding, daffodils are showing off their sunny yellow faces and robins are singing from sun up to sun down.
Seasonal rebirth has me thinking of parenting advice or maybe it’s the fact that I’m going to be a grandma the first week of May!
I had been thinking of different topics along the line of new parents so after reading a parenting article online I think I’ll go with this one.
The article talked about a Mother that was upset because someone had given her baby chocolate cake.
I believe the baby was four months old!
Now I have to go back a long way in my memory bank about feeding babies, but I’m damn sure at four months old, a baby should not be given chocolate cake!!
If I had seen someone giving my baby chocolate cake for a laugh, I would have gone all ninja warrior queen on their ass!!
Who in their right mind thinks it’s funny to give someone else’s baby, food without asking the parent first! And at four months no less!! Babies are not toys for your amusement!
Many agreed with her. Some thought she over reacted. In my opinion this Mother had every right to react how she did. She was upset and stormed out. This baby could have been allergic to chocolate and it could have had a horrible outcome.
Now my point of this article, is for new parents to stand their ground if a situation like this comes up. You are the ones raising your children. It’s about boundaries. Parents are in charge of their kids, and no one should be giving your child food or anything else without your say so.
Never be afraid to stand up to someone that has gone against your wishes, even if it is a family member…even grandparents.
I say to the woman in this article…Good for you new momma!
Life Experience Wisdom
*Plain and simple…Parents are in charge and make decisions about raising their kids…no one else.
*You make the rules regarding what they can and cannot have.
*Do not feel guilty about setting boundaries or establishing rules.
Thanks for visiting, cheers til next time!
