A Circle Of Women #1

A Circle of Women #1

So I’m going to try something a little different this week.

On my walk a while ago I passed a couple of women, and I could tell by their conversation that one was asking the other for advice.  It made me smile and it reminded me why I started this blog.

To help other women.

So I came up with the idea to ask a few women I know some questions and see what they had to pass on to other women.

Since The Life Lemon Dodge is all about helping women to thrive and avoid being hit with life lemons, why not ask others for their thoughts.

I asked three questions…

  1. Who was your biggest source of inspiration at any given time in your life?
  2. What advice would you give your younger self?
  3. How have you changed from say five or ten years ago?

The answers are from women aged fifty and up from varying chapters in their lives.  One working, one about to retire, one starting a brand new working chapter and my 98 year old Mother!

So here goes!

  1. Who was your biggest source of inspiration at any given time in your life?

Working Woman:   Me!  “Being raised by emotionally immature parents, I had no one to look up to.  I came to depend on myself therefore I would say I was my own source of inspiration.”

Wow! How amazing is that!  If that isn’t making a lemon cocktail from life lemons, I don’t know what is!

Working Woman….You should be very proud of yourself for rising above your situation and your positive mind set.

Retiring Woman:   My Mom!  “Struggling with wanting to quit university, she strongly encouraged me not to.  I have always been so thankful that I am financially independent.  When my ex refused to help my daughter with university costs and my son with his wedding, I was able to say…I’ve got you! to my kids.  All because Mom helped me with those early decisions.”

I think I’m going to be saying wow a lot this week! Lol  Just incredible to have family cheerleaders and what a difference they can make in our lives.

Bravo to Retiring Woman and her Mom!

Next Chapter Working Woman:   My Landlord!  “She started her business years ago pregnant with no money.  Today she has two centres, a retreat property, her own skin care line and other side lines.  She has biked across Canada, and written two books.  She was kind and helpful when I started my business and renting from her has been a dream.  During Covid she reduced my rent and is currently teaching me to market myself for my own business.”

Give that inspirational woman a cape, because she is a super hero in my book!  We all need more women like this in our lives.  We need to be more like this woman and help others however we can!  What an inspiration!

Next Chapter Woman… You are very lucky to have this special soul in your life!

Senior Woman: ( My Mother 98 yrs old)  The couple that volunteered at our church!  “When I was little I went to a small country church out in the middle of nowhere.  There was a couple that looked after the old wood stove to keep the fire lit and help with church duties.  My brother and I joined the church…learning bible verses etc.  Without this couple volunteering their time to keep the church running, I likely wouldn’t have gone to church as a kid and maybe wouldn’t have had religion in my life, which has become very important to me now.”

Volunteers as cheerleaders, I love it!  Something as simple as keeping a fire going in an old church, to keep young ones coming back, you never know the impact on others from your simple actions.

So I think I’ll wrap it up for this week and continue with the final answers next week.

Life Experience Wisdom

*  Inspiring women come from all walks of life.

*  Cheerleaders, either from family or strangers are super heroes whether they know it or not.

*  Sometimes you just have to rise above and be your own inspiration!

*  You can do it, you’ve got this!

As always thanks for visiting and cheers til next time!

Grace

My Motto

When life throws baseball size lemons at you, that smack you upside the head, stomp on those damn things and make yourself a cocktail!
