Recharge Continued…As Promised
A few weeks ago, (time gets away on me!) I said I would give you a list of some more things I do to recharge so I can carry on. Let’s do that this week. Recharging is self care which is important for your over all health, both mentally and physically.
So lets do that this week before I forget all together!
To recap I said I walk, listen to music, and disconnect from the computer and social media.
Here are some more ideas
* I practice deep breathing exercises. I find this helps. It relaxes the body. I do this when I first go to bed too. It really seems to help put me to sleep.
*It might sound weird, but decluttering is a recharge for me. I don’t think well when I’m surrounded by clutter. Having less around is calming to me. At times my desk papers get piled up, so I take time to put them away or shred, then I can focus again.
*Watch a movie, series, documentary or something funny. I oddly recharge with true crime documentaries. That’s probably a topic for the therapist’s sofa, so I’ll leave that one alone…lol
*Reading, which I need to do more of. For me it’s just a matter of shuttering off the racing creative side of my brain and letting the quiet side have the reins, which has become hard to do as I get older, maybe it’s a menopause thing? TMI (too much info)…moving on!
*I practice positive self talk now as well. The first few times I did this, I felt like an idiot, but it comes naturally now. I do it while I’m out walking, so nobody hears me anyway…lol
“I am going to have a good day” “I will succeed” etc.
*New hobby/skill, I know…like I need any more projects on the go…lol
But I would really love to learn to draw, if nothing else I could improve my drawings of stick people!
*A day out with my Bestie J. Two old broads on the loose is always a good time, even if we only get out as far as Costco!
That’s about it for what I do personally. As I sit here reading over my list, I realize it really is a list for the introvert, which I am.
So here are a few ideas for those that enjoy being around people for longer than a few minutes…lol
*Volunteer…somewhere you enjoy, or for an organization that means something to you.
*Take a class…cooking maybe? I think I’m getting hives just thinking about it! (not my idea of a good time…cause I don’t like classes…or cooking..lol) But to each their own!!
*Go to the gym…. (yep…definitely hives)… no thanks, but have at it!
Ok I’m just going to stick to the introvert stuff I know! Lol
My point is…try something new, or out of your usual routine to recharge.
You will be able to go back to your task with a fresh mind and be more productive!
So give it a try and see if you feel better after a little self care!
