You Do You!

You Do You!

Well there I was out walking along my trail by the water the other day, listening to other conversations again as people passed by.  One woman says to her friend, “He can’t tell me what to do, if I want to do it…I will!”

Now it takes all the will power I have to not turn and say, “Right on Girl…You Do You!”

Maybe I should have commented, because seriously if you don’t want feedback from those within earshot, then don’t talk so damn loud!

Which brings me to this week’s topic…You Do You!

Sometimes we get caught up in what I call “sabotage thinking.”

We worry about what others are going to think about what we want to do.

We spend so much energy worrying,  that time slips by and we accomplish nothing.

The truth is we sabotage ourselves, which to me now, is worse that someone else doing it to me.

I’ve learned to value my own opinion over someone else’s opinion of me.

For Example…

A few years ago when I was first mulling over the idea of a blog, I was spending time with a guy and asked what he thought of blogs.  Before I could get the word blog out of my mouth, he reacted.

“Omg, a blog, everybody and their aunt and uncle is doing a blog these days.  I think they are stupid.”

Well then…so that happened.  I guess I’ll just get rid of that idea.  If he thought blogs were stupid, and I told him I wanted to do one, then would he think I was stupid??

So I didn’t tell him and put the idea out of my head.

Now I don’t really know when the change in thinking occurred, but it did…thank gawd!

Did I fall out of bed, hit my head and knock some sense into myself?  I don’t know.

Sometimes I think I just get so fed up and my give-a-crap-o-meter blows up and clears my mind! lol

But my thinking did change, and I decided if I want to do a blog, then hells bells, that is what I’ll do!

No one will ever again be a deciding force in what I think or do.

I will be me, like it or leave it!

And I swear I heard a choir of angels singing!!

There is such a feeling of release and contentment about letting go of old thinking and being happy with who you are.

This is another life lesson I hope you learn sooner than later.

Never let someone decide what you do with your life.

It’s yours to create, and no one else!
