I think this week I’m going to add one more item to the essentials list of things to remember to do in your life….from last week’s article.
This week’s life lesson…Stay Active!
Now this may not seem very important to a young person reading this, but believe me, time goes by fast.
One day you are young and agile, then you turn around and your joints are making cracking noises when you get off the sofa, loud enough it startles you!
You put your back out with a single sneeze.
You are out of breath going up the stairs to bed, and think about installing one of those chair mounted to the wall lifts like you see in the t.v. commercials…you know the ones you always make fun of.
And the list continues.
So to avoid or at least lessen these not so fun happenings, you have to stay active.
I want to stay in control of my body for as long as I’m able.
If I keep active, even just going for my walks, the body will keep co-operating and allow me to do so.
If I become a habitual sofa slug the body will adapt to that life style and over time will argue with me about doing anything else. And a body that argues is painful!
When I visit my mother in her retirement home, I see the active and inactive. Now of course older people have other health issues, but if you can stay active to keep your body in motion, why not do that?!
Staying active, moving, stretching, walking distance all contribute to a healthier lifestyle for both mind and body and help maintain your independence.
No one wants to leave their home because they can’t manage the stairs or afford one of those fancy chair lifts.
Little adjustments to your life now while you are young can help.
Like parking at the far end of the mall so you can add extra steps to your day.
Take the stairs instead of the escalator.
Or do a little stretching to your favourite music.
Staying active is easier to do if you start young and keep at it.
Life Experience Wisdom
* Start when you are young…be active and continue to be active as you age to be a healthier old goat!
* It’s never too late to start, just get off your butt and go for a walk.
*Keeping active makes the body and mind happier.
And with that I will get off my sofa and get out for my walk!
As always, thanks for visiting my blog!
Cheers til next week,
Grace
My Motto
When life throws baseball size lemons at you, that smack you upside the head, stomp on those damn things and make yourself a cocktail!
