The week’s life lesson is a reminder for all women during this busy time…Do Christmas Your Way!
I was watching t.v. the other night and I saw commercial after commercial of women preparing and doing Christmas things. It was exhausting. I finally just shut the t.v. off and put my music on instead.
The expectations of how you are supposed to do Christmas can be overwhelming.
Expectations of dinner for the masses, baking to fill 150 tins, gifts that fill a room to the ceiling or all the trending ideas from social media…it gets to be too much.
So don’t let other’s expectations for Christmas be your compass for the season.
Do Christmas your way, whatever feels right for you.
And don’t feel guilty about it!
Not everyone can afford to do what is shown on t.v. at Christmas time.
Pressures of the season are particularly tough on single moms, doing their best to give kids a good Christmas on a budget. Rent, groceries, gifts, everything is so expensive.
Cut yourself some slack this holiday season and keep it simple.
Do Less. Spend Less. Enjoy time with your kids.
Believe me kids remember time spent together far longer than any toy they get.
So here is a little list for the exhausted frazzled women getting ready for Christmas.
* It’s ok to not spend days and days baking.
* It’s ok to have a few gifts for your kids, and not truck loads for each.
* It’s ok to not attend every party you are invited to.
* It’s ok to not have pix with matching pajamas.
* It’s ok to not send out a family events letter in your Christmas cards.
* It’s ok to not send Christmas cards!
* It’s ok to not spend hundreds of dollars on decorations for the house.
* It’s ok to not have turkey for dinner.
* And finally it’s ok to say enough, and put your feet up, relax and just enjoy doing something simple with your kids.
Put some Christmas music on and do a puzzle, board game, or have a walk around the neighbourhood to see the Christmas lights.
Just remember it’s ok to do Christmas your way!
