My Rules For Living Well

My Rules for Living Well

You are never too old
To set another goal
Or to dream
A new dream
C.S Lewis

This is one of my favourite quotes and it ties in perfectly with this week’s life lesson…My Rules for Living Well.

Have you ever just spent time thinking about your own rules for living well?  Now anyone that has been following my blog knows, when I am out walking my mind just takes off like a race horse set free from the barn in the spring.  And this thought was a direction it went recently.

Whether you mindfully think about it or not, everyone has rules for living.  What you accept in your life, or what you put up with.  All become rules you live your life by.

So why not intentionally acknowledge your rules.

That way you can work on the not so positive aspects of your life, and fully embrace the positive ones.

Like my motto at the end of each blog, I have decided to take the sour life lemons that come my way and turn them into a deliciously sweet cocktail.  (After stomping the hell out of them of course!)

So putting pen to paper I journaled out some rules for me, for living a good life.

No Regrets

Why waste time worrying about something in the past.  You can’t change it now.  But you can learn from it and move on.  Everything that has happened to you in the past, good and bad, has made you who you are today.  Embrace that!

Treat People The Way You Want To Be Treated

Make someone’s day by being kind, friendly or just an all round decent person.  Seems like a no brainer doesn’t it?  Imagine if the world worked this way, how much better it would be.

Be kind in your own little part of the world, it’s a start.

Never Stop Learning

I’ve said this many times and will continue saying it.

Learning new things keeps your brain active and makes you feel good.

Working through a problem and solving it, whether it’s a computer problem, or a crossword puzzle, whatever it is, if you solve it and have a “thank you baby jesus” moment, that’s a win!

Learning something new can be a skill you implement in your life, or just random things that you come across that you didn’t know.

For example…

I’ve recently learned that one cup of blue Dawn dish soap and one cup of white vinegar, put in a spray bottle, makes the best cleaning product for the bathroom shower that I have ever used!  I’ll never buy harsh cleaners again!

Who knew???  Well now I do!!

Life Is Short

Eat cake for breakfast!  Or whatever your weakness is, once in a while just do it.

There is nothing wrong with embracing the things that make you happy.  You Do You!

Cake for breakfast is not something I advocate as a daily menu item, but once in a while, what the hell!

Go for an extra long walk if you feel the need to repent about it….lol

Life is short, enjoy it!

Live Large or Small…Whatever Makes YOU Happy

Don’t live or compare your life by what other people do.

If you are happy being a home body for instance, don’t compare yourself to someone that enjoys traveling.

(Just give up comparing your life to others all together).

People love to travel, good for them, it’s not my thing.  Traveling any more than a day trip fills me with anxiety.  I gave up feeling bad about not traveling years ago, when I realized I didn’t enjoy it.

I can be an armchair traveler quite easily with youtube and documentaries on T.V.

Your life is yours to live, large or small. It’s up to you!  Accept and be happy with it!

Well that’s my list of rules for living well.  What are yours?!

Life Experience Wisdom

*  Think about what rules you live by and work on them if you realize you have negative ones.

*  You can’t change the whole world, just the part you play in it.

*  Life is short, enjoy your time in it, and be you!

* Gratitude! That’s a staple!

And this article brings me to the end of December 2023.

Another trip around the sun.

It’s always time for me to reflect on the good and bad happenings of the past year.

To cancer scares in my household to the arrival of a wonderful healthy little grandbaby, “Grandma’s Little Cupcake”.  I accept life’s ups and downs and move along my path.

It’s also time to set new goals and try new things!

(My thinker never seems to stay idle! Lol)

So with that I end my blog year wishing you all a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!

May you face each day with gratitude and keep stomping on those life lemons when they come your way!

Cheers  til next week,

Grace

My Motto

When life throws baseball size lemons at you, that smack you upside the head, stomp on those damn things and make yourself a cocktail!
