Make Fear Your Friend
Or at least an acquaintance you can deal with once in a while when you need to!
I’ve spent so much of my life fearing fear.
Fear of people not liking me, fear of not getting the job I was after, or fear of losing (death) people around me.
And you know what, I’m finally able to say…So what…I just don’t give a rat’s rear end any more about fear!
People don’t like me…go find someone else to hang with.
Job didn’t work out…wasn’t meant to be, something else will come along.
I lose people around me (death)…no one lives forever, I’ll see you on the other side! We’ll get together again one day and haunt someone we don’t like!
I look back over the years and I think what a colossal waste of time fear is.
Every once in a while fear tries to grab at me and in the past I would have run the other way or hid in a corner and had an anxiety attack.
Now if fear peeks into my life, I look it straight in the eye and say…Come on, go for it, see how far you get! If you call it every name in the book, til you run out of four letter words, the fear starts to back away…ironically seeming to fear you!
I’ve changed my mind set about fear and no longer give it power over me.
I think of fear as a teaching tool now.
For example…
Fear got me while doing the journal section of this blog. The book links weren’t working easily for different countries and fear screamed at me.
“You can’t do this, just give up on it.”
To which I replied in my new mind set…Ok fear, we are going to glue your butt to a chair in the corner and stuff your mouth with a dirty sock. Shut up fear! And then I said a lot of nasty words and I felt better.
I can do this…and I did.
So with fear put in it’s place, I figured out a solution to my book link problem and all is right with the world again.
Sometimes the fear just pushes you enough to figure out what you need to do.
That’s a win for me and nothing for fear! I was able to work it out with a change of mind set.
So the next time fear creeps up on you, try changing your mind set and go at the problem again.
Life Experience Wisdom
* Don’t let fear of doing something hold you back.
* Change your mind set and tell fear you are the boss.
* Take a break to figure out the problem and come back to it with fresh eyes.
* Always try to make a positive out of a negative fear based situation.
As always, thanks for visiting my blog!
Cheers til next week,
Grace
