You Can’t Please Everyone!
I thought I’d start off the year 2024 with a simple life lesson….You can’t please everyone!
It’s all fine and good to be kind and helpful to people, but going overboard to please others can leave you feeling exhausted and stressed, and that’s not healthy for you.
Some signs of a people pleaser include…
* Difficulty saying no.
So you end up doing things and going places you aren’t comfortable with.
* You can’t stop wondering what other people think about you.
In realty people likely spend little time thinking of you at all.
* You want people to like you so you end up doing whatever they ask, to win their approval.
In fact this can lead to you being used and taken for granted.
* You have little to no free time as you are always doing things for other people.
Therefore you are neglecting yourself and your own well being.
It’s wonderful to help people and we should all be giving human beings. But it’s important to our own mental health to find a balance.
First off you must recognize you have limits, both mental and physical ones. So you need to set boundaries and let people know them.
Remember your limits may be less than other people’s limits and that’s ok. Whatever works for you.
Boundaries may include letting people know when you can take calls or texts. Nothing in the evenings after 9 pm maybe. You decide your boundaries.
For me, I found it tough at first saying no to people. But if you say it firmly like you mean it, final answer, then you leave no room for them to try and wiggle in the ever popular…”Awww come on.”
If a “helping others situation” is constantly draining your energy, it’s time to step back, assess what you are doing and make changes.
For your own mental health you need to look after you!
Always remember you can’t please everyone all the time. It just isn’t possible.
Life Experience Wisdom
* Don’t stop being a kind giving person.
* Do things for people on your terms, without fear of rejection from others.
* Always spend time on yourself to recharge.
* Learn to balance yourself and others.
So start off 2024 with a giving attitude to others, but don’t forget about yourself!
As always thanks for stopping by,
Cheers til next week.
