Unplug to Recharge
I’ll admit it, I’m addicted to the scroll.
And I don’t mean the set that Moses had. I mean I’m addicted to the endless, so easy to waste time scrolling I do on social media.
My tablet even has a setting to limit the amount of time spent scrolling, guess that should have been my first clue it could be a problem!
Now in my own defense I do the scroll to be inspired for these weekly articles, but I also do scroll on long after I find a topic.
Time on social media can be a good thing. You may learn a new recipe, exercise or find a book review, and of course there are lots of cute cats and dogs to follow.
It can be part of your self care time and that’s a good thing.
But I find sometimes I read and watch so many “people are shitty to one another” reels that I end up feeling angry and upset when I’m done.
What bothers me most are the women attacking other women videos. One I watched about a young 20ish woman talking about the mean comments from women about her weight.
Seriously what is wrong with people?!
I ended up commenting to her to block the mean sad they hate themselves trolls, which is what they are, and
build a community of supportive women for her channel.
Because we are out there! We have her back!
So that I find is the downside of scrolling. Miserable people get me down and angry.
From now on I am going to limit the evening wander through the social videos.
The benefits of unplugging from social media are proven and they are.
* Changes in mood in a positive way
* Better productivity
* Improved sleep
* Reduced anxiety
Once I notice I’m feeling off I realize it’s time to make changes and limit time on my tablet at night.
Instead I will pick up a book, or grab one of my coloring books and get back in my happy Zen place.
Here’s a link if you are interested in trying one of my inspirational coloring books. Inspirational Zen Coloring Book
And my ship will right itself once again.
Life Experience Wisdom
* Limit the scroll time for your mental health.
* Find positive channels to follow, watch the new videos they post and log off.
* Set a timer for the amount of time you are online and stick to it.
* If you do come across someone struggling with trolls, take a few minutes and send a positive note. You have no idea how they will appreciate it!
That’s it for this week,
Take care of your mental health, today and every day!
Cheers til next week,
Grace
