Ranty Ruth Says – Don’t Feel Bad
I’m letting Ranty Ruth out to play today.
I really do try to keep her in check, but some things just trigger her…I mean me…lol
I was doing a quick scroll on social media the other day and a few items made me stop and say, “What? What are you doing?”
Some of these videos have the potential to do more harm than good to a women’s sense of self worth. I’ve spoken about this before.
So this will be a reminder chat.
Don’t feel bad you can’t or don’t want to empty your clothes closet every season and fill it with trendy stuff because someone says, “Get rid of these things now.”
You are not less than for not following trends.
Don’t feel bad you can’t or don’t want to overspend on seasonal decorating for your home. Decorate your home your way.
You are not less than because you can’t do or don’t want holiday decor from floor to ceiling in every room of your home.
Don’t feel bad because you can’t or don’t want to be a size 2 by living at the gym. Celebrate your body, eat healthy food, walk for exercise.
You are not less than because your pant size is a double digit.
These were all shown to me in a few minutes of scrolling. What concerns me is the women that watch these that struggle with self esteem.
So my message to these women is…You don’t have to bow down to what social media tells you to do.
Say out loud when you see videos like these examples…
”I am happy with my wardrobe just as it is.”
“I am happy with my home just as it is.”
“I am happy with my body being a size double digit”
And learn to let it go and scroll on, or stop scrolling all together. I limit my scroll to ten minutes now, and sometimes I just look at the ones I follow and avoid the scroll all together. There are lots of up lifting videos too, so concentrate on those.
The ones I’ve mentioned don’t make me feel bad any more. I’ve learned to get past that. But I find they trigger Ranty Ruth now and I just want to warn other women to avoid them.
Always remember you are worthy and absolutely wonderful the way you are!
