Emotional Energy

Emotional Energy

I think a lot of women forget that their emotional energy is so important to their well being.

It enables us to connect with others in a healthy way, achieve the goals we have set for ourselves and navigate through our busy life path.

But there is a limit to our emotional energy.

So it’s important to use it wisely.

Use your emotional energy well and you will handle stressors, build good relationships and go after your dreams.

But if that same energy is misused you can be left feeling exhausted, anxious and unfulfilled.

One of the most common ways we waste emotional energy is to focus on things we can’t control.

Dwelling on past mistakes, worrying about the future or being obsessed with other people’s opinions are all huge energy drainers.

Another major energy drain is toxic relationships.  Negative people spread negative vibes. Or those that disrespect criticize or manipulate you, can drain your energy leaving you feeling empty.

So let’s start to fix that shall we!

The first thing I want you to start doing is learn to say NO!

Just NO!

Saying no to obligations or situations that don’t align with your priorities is a start.

Boundaries protect your energy and help you focus on what matters to you.

People pleasing is a major energy drainer.  The sooner you learn you can’t do everything for everyone, you’ll be better off and regain some emotional energy.

Practice Being Mindful

Live in the moment.

Forget the past, don’t worry about the future.  Just concentrate on today.  If you start to feel drained, take a few minutes to be still and do some deep breathing to ground yourself.

Activities to Recharge

Figure out what activities make you feel joyful and alive.  Is it getting together with a girlfriend to chat things out, or a solo walk in nature?  Or spending time doing a hobby?

Make your activities a priority to recharge your emotional energy.

Positive People Power

This just goes without saying, you need positivity around you.  Feed off it.

Limit your exposure to the negative in people, media, or anything in your environment.

Notice the improved difference you feel when you stay away from the negative.

You’ll be amazed!

Checking in with Yourself

Every so often just ask yourself out loud, How am I doing today?  Do I have issues I need to deal with?

You can talk with a friend, a therapist or just journal out your feelings, whatever works best for you to release emotional baggage.

And don’t forget gratitude!  Always practice gratitude to appreciate the good you do have in your life.

It shifts the focus from what’s lacking to what’s abundant!

The Power of Rest

Never underestimate the power of rest.

Emotional energy needs time to recharge just as physical energy does.

Get sleep at night, take breaks during the day, and allow yourself to reset your life when you need to.

By managing your emotional energy you can lead a balanced life.

Be focused, set boundaries, and do what truly matters to you to look after your emotional energy and all over well being.
