Be a Lighthouse
Life has a way of dragging us through darkness and storms.
During times like this when we can’t keep our ship up right, we need a presence or guiding light to help us out.
Someone to offer support and listen to us, and help us navigate on our life path.
Being a lighthouse is to simply shine for those that need help.
When people go through tough times they don’t need someone to solve or fix their problems, otherwise they never learn to solve their own problems.
But they will benefit from having a safe place to go where they are seen, heard and understood.
When you are a lighthouse you can give direction, offer options, be a source of encouragement, while letting them choose their own path.
People have to walk their own path in life, their decisions shape who they become. And that is up to them.

So how do you be a lighthouse?
Be There for them
People feel lost and alone at times. Simply letting them know they can come to you, and knowing they aren’t alone can be comforting enough.
Listen Without Judging
If someone is struggling, simply listening without trying to fix them can be all they need.
Sometimes getting out pain can be just talking to someone that listens with empathy and caring.
Being a lighthouse doesn’t mean telling people where or how to go about their lives. It just means shining your light with support and kindness.
Lead By Example
It’s the old actions speak louder than words line. If we want to encourage others, we have to show them that we can be a positive, caring and kind person even when we go through tough times.
If I can weather the storm, so can you!
Share Your Light
Lighthouses shine even when no one is looking. Tiny acts of kindness can make such an impact in someone life. I once held the big double doors heading out of a store for a mom struggling with a stroller and toddler in tow. She looked at me with such relief and thankfulness. I think I got more out of it than she did!
I offered her a smile and enjoy your day as we went our separate ways.
It was a simple act that made a difference.
Never underestimate the power of small acts of kindness and compassion. It can have a ripple effect, those that have been helped, often think, wow that was so nice, I should do the same for someone else.
The old pay it forward move.
So in closing, the world can get overwhelming.
Be a lighthouse of positive light for someone in need.
Provide comfort and hope and let them know how strong they can be during the storms of life.
Let your light shine with encouragement and compassion.
The world needs more of that today.
